Located in the northwest of the Greater Los Angeles area, Thousand Oaks has our vote as one of the best cities to move to in Southern California. If you’re already living in Thousand Oaks, or you’re thinking of moving there, here are a few of our favorite things to do in the area:
1) Experience Baby Goat Yoga
While it might sound like a yoga pose (Downward Facing Dog, anyone?), Baby Goat Yoga is actually a phenomenon that has begun to take hold across the country – and you can experience it right here in Thousand Oaks, at Lavenderwood Yoga. While the appeal is more for spending time with baby goats than taking an intensive yoga course, we’re pretty sure that won’t be a problem for most people.
2) Walk Your Dog at Conejo Creek Dog Park
Dog owners know that taking their dog for a stroll just around the block can tend to lose its luster after a while. That’s why Conejo Creek Dog Park is such a huge hit. With 3.5 acres to roam, and two sections split between larger and smaller dogs, you can be sure that your dog will have a great time and will be more than ready for a nap by the time they’re done.
3) Explore the Botanical Gardens and Gardens of the World
Nature lovers will find a lot to love in Thousand Oaks, but its garden offerings are truly special. Hikers will have a blast exploring the Conejo Valley Botanical Gardens, which offers 33 acres of winding trails, stunning vistas, and beautiful flora. The nearby Gardens of the World offers a truly breathtaking experience, with a set of different gardens inspired by different parts of the world, each featuring unique layouts and flora.
4) Discover the Region’s Rich History at Local Museums
With a past dating back 10,000 years to when the Chumash people settled in the area, Thousand Oaks has an incredibly rich history. You can learn more about the Chumash people at the Chumash Indian Museum, and learn more about pioneers from the west at the Stagecoach Inn Museum. Both offer a fascinating glimpse into the area’s history, which any Thousand Oaks resident will want to experience at least once.
5) Enjoy a Variety of Indoor Activities in the Winter
When winter is at its peak, there are plenty of exciting indoor activities to enjoy in the area. Take the Nodus805 Escape Rooms, for example. These puzzle rooms will test your wits as you search for clues to escape within an hour. If you’re craving a burst of speed, you’ll definitely want to check out the local GoKart racing ring. Too cold to go hiking or climbing? Go bouldering!
6) Relax at Home in a Beatufiful Apartment Community
Sometimes it’s nice just to find a place to relax and call home. At our Marlowe Apartments community, you’ll find the most spacious floor plans in Thousand Oaks, so you have room to spread out and decorate your dream apartment. You’ll also find fantastic luxury amenities like a heated swimming pool, a children’s playground, and a 24 hour fitness center.
